The effect of methyltestosterone on the rate of synthesis of creatine.

چکیده
After the daily administration of methyltestosterone to normal human subjects for several weeks, creatine usually appears in the urine in gradually increasing amounts (1,2). Because the creatinuria so induced is associated with an increase in the concentration of serum creatine, and also because the amount of urinary creatinine increases, it has been generally assumed that the synthesis of creatine is accelerated by methyltestosterone. The effect of methyltestosterone on the metabolism of creatine can be more directly observed by measuring the rate of turnover of creatine by isotope methods. It has previously been shown that the rate of dilution of labeled body creatine, as reflected in the concentration of isotope in urinary creatinine, is a measure of the rate of replacement of depot creatine by endogenous creatine (3-5). By so tagging the body creatine of a normal male subject subsisting on a diet as free of creatine and creatinine as possible, the rate of synthesis of creatine before and during the administration of methyltestosterone has been measured. Evidence will be presented that methyltestosterone does increase the rate of synthesis of creatine. That this is specifically brought about by its effect on the reaction or reactions involved in the formation of guanidoacetic acid is indicated by other data.

The Effect of Creatine Monohydrate Loading on Downhill Running-induced Inflammatory Response in Elite Male Mountaineers
Abstract Background & Aims: In regard to the limited studies about the effect of creatine on exercise-induced inflammatory responses, the present study was conducted to identify the effect of creatine monohydrate loading on response of serum C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and peripheral blood leucocytes following one bout downhill running in male mountain climbers. Methods: Twen...
متن کاملThe effect of testosterone and methyltestosterone on guanidoacetic acid, creatine, and creatinine in plasma and urine.
Since the major route of creatine formation in the animal body appears to involve the intermediate formation of guanidoacetic acid, methylated steroids such as methyltestosterone could cause the repeatedly observed (1,2) increase in production of creatine by one of three possible mechanisms: (a) by transferring methyl groups to guanidoacetic acid, (b) by increasing production of guanidoacetic a...

Introduction: Optimum recovery can prevent the athlete's functional capacity from falling between training sessions or competitions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of dry cupping therapy and creatine supplementation on lactic acid, lactate dehydrogenase and plasma creatine kinase following the Wingate anaerobic test in male handball players. Method: In this quasi-experimental...

Background and Aim: Homocysteine (HCY) is an independent risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease. Since Creatine synthesis in the liver accounts for nearly 70% of daily homocysteine formation, creatine supplementation might inhibit Hcy production. The present study investigated the effects of creatine supplementation in endurance training on Hcy levels and lipid risk factors. ...
